Lake Sebu T'boli Community & Culture Immersion Tour

  1. TOUR DESCRIPTION

 

This is a private group tour. To book this tour, you must be at least 15 people travelling. 

We are visiting Lake Sebu to learn from the T'boli people, their culture and traditions. This beautiful place can sometimes feel "touristy" as large numbers of tourists could swarm the place wanting to get the best out it.

 

For this trip, we are taking the travel experience a step back from the noise for us to truly focus on the essential things- the opportunity to connect with the people and mother nature.

    3. TOUR TIMELINE AND ACTIVITIES

This is a sample 3 day itinerary but can be customized based on group's needs and priorities:

 

Day 1:

 

- 9:00 AM: Arrival and pick up at Gensan Airport

- 12:00 NN: Lunch and Lake Tour at Lake Sebu

- 2:00 PM: Welcome Activity with SLT School

- 4:00 PM: 7 Falls Visit

- 7:00 PM: Prepare for School Outreach

 

Day 2:

 

- 6:00 AM: Photo-ops with full traditional outfit rented

- 9:00 AM: SLT School 2 Visit and Immersion

- 2:00 PM Traditional Weaving and Embroidery Activity

- 7:00 PM: Spend evening at SLT School

 

Day 3:

- 8:00 AM: Daang Dulay Tinalak Workshop Visit

- 9:00 AM: Brassmaking Workshop Visit

- 11:00 AM: Pasalubong Shopping

- 1:00 PM: Route Back to Gensan Airport (for Manila-based guests)

 

 

    4. MEETING POINT AND LOCATION

Take off point will be at General Santos Airport.

    6. INCLUSIONS

- Van transport from General Santos to Lake Sebu (vice versa)

- Local Transfers from homestay to community and sightseeing places,

- All main meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and traditional snacks for the trip duration

- Lunch and boat tour around Lake Sebu

- Entrance fees, community rituals, and other fees related to this tour

- Trip Facilitator and local guides for the whole trip duration

- Arts and Cultural Immersion activities

- Travel Insurance

- 2 nights Homestay (option to upgrade to a Lakeside hotel on the first night)

Not included:

- Zipline Activity

     7. GIVING BACK / COMMUNITY IMPACT

Private Groups undertaking this tour can prepare gifts for the School of Living Traditions – either school supplies, cash or projects. Meaningful Travels can do the needs assessment prior to your group’s visit.

 

Through this tour, we would be able to patronize local artisans and their crafts. Your meals and accommodations will be provided by coops, small business owners and women’s groups, thereby supporting local economy. 

 

     8. CANCELLATIONS AND REFUND POLICY

  • Please note that a 20% admin fee will apply for early cancellations.

 

  • For cancellations made 2 weeks before departure dates, 50% of deposit fees will be reimbursed.

 

  • For cancellation made 5 days before the trip, fees will be forfeited. Full payment should be made at least 7 days before the trip. No cash refunds. The amount deposited will be treated as credits for next trips or can be transferred to family and friends.

 

 

     9. OTHERS:

 

Overall, when you prepare for this trip, take only the essential items you need. Bring  simple and modest clothes as we will be spending time with the community people. You can either bring a backpack or even a stroller to fit your belongings (whatever feels comfortable).

 

If you feel a little more generous, it's also a good idea to bring some gifts/tokens for your newfound friends in the community.

This is a private group tour. To book this tour, you must be at least 15 people travelling. 

Found at the foot of the Mountains of Kitanglad is the Talaandig People who continues to preserve and promote their rich culture, customs and beliefs despite the rapid modernization and change.

 

The community of Songco, Bukidnon is well known as a cradle for artists excelling in the fields of soil painting, sculptures and music. Most of their work is an expression of their love for their community and mother nature.

 

Explore the beauty of Bukidnon’s people and cultures. Explore. Immerse. Give Back.

    3. TOUR TIMELINE AND ACTIVITIES

Day 1: Enroute to Lantapan. Bukidnon

10:00 am: Brunch at Cagayan de Oro

11:00 am: Leave for Bukidnon

3:00 pm: Arrival in Lantapan, Bukidnon

- team orientation and village tour follows

- join in with community activities

7:00 pm: Dinner with homestay host and family

9:00 pm: Join community ritual at the Hall

 

Day 2 Community Service Day and Camping

7:00 am: Breakfast

9:00 am: Prepare gifts for the children

10:00 am: Join community ritual (will depend on community's schedule)

12:00 nn: Lunch at Homestay

1:00 pm: Route to remote school

2:00 pm: Start of school activity

7:00 pm: Dinner with locals (bonfire or stargazing after)

8:00 pm: Socials

 

Day 3 : Nature and Arts Immersion

7:00 am: Breakfast

9:00 am: Visit nearby waterfalls and enjoy a swim

            - collect soil for soil painting activity later

11:00 am: Soil Painting workshop

12:00 nn: Lunch and route back to homestay after

2:00 am: Debriefing activity with travelers and host community

3:00 pm: leave from Bukidnon to CDO

6:00 pm: arrive at CDO and dinner

7:00 pm: leave for Airport

8:00 pm: Arrival at Laguindingan Airport
